One hundred percent of all monetary donations to AWAIC stay in Anchorage where they have immediate and lasting results. AWAIC  provides services to all those affected by domestic violence, but relies heavily on corporate and private donations to make this possible.  Your donations to AWAIC is tax deductible as we are a 501 3c non-profit.

In-Kind Donation Information
Donations of goods and services are essential to AWAIC. We serve hundreds of men, women and children every year that are in need of a variety of items. The lists below are updated frequently depending on current needs and shortages. We ask that donated items to AWAIC be in good usable condition. Items that are broken, dirty or stained cannot be accepted because we cannot pass them along to the people who use our services. We must then pay to dispose of them. Also, we have very limited storage space due to our shelter being over capacity. We respectfully ask that due to our limited space, you refer to our immediate needs donation list below:

Gift Cards

AWAIC is in ne
ed of gift cards to stores like Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart and Target to support the ongoing needs of shelter residents and other program participants.  Gift cards allow AWAIC the flexibility to purchase items as the need arises and choose items specifically suited to individuals in need. 

Current Needs

  • Women's underwear, sportsbras and socks
  • Children's shoes and sneakers (including sizes 7, 8)
  • Baby teething rings, medicines, diaper wipes
  • Vacuums in good working condition
  • Pajamas for women and children
  • Diapers and formula
  • New makeup
  • Large bottles of shampoo and conditioner
  • First Aid Supplies (band-aids, neosporin, etc)
  • Winter coats, boots, hats, and gloves for women and children
  • Fresh Produce
  • Milk and eggs with at least one week until the expiration date

Items that we are unable to accept:

  • Broken or incomplete toys
  • Broken or stained furniture
  • Used or open cosmetics, lotions, medicines
  • Exercise Equipment
  • Large Appliances
  • Paint
  • Soiled or stained Bedding/Clothing 
  • Computers
  • Large Televisions

If you are interested in donating furniture or mattresses please call ahead to our Moving Forward program at (907) 279-9581 to see if there are currently participants in need of those items. We are unable to accept unscheduled drop-offs of furniture due to our limited amount of storage.

Cell Phone Drive

We will be accepting cell phone donations which include:  Phones, Tablets, Chargers, Cell Phone Batteries and Accessories.
Donated items will be recycled through a program that pays non-profits for cell phone recycling. Income from this drive will support our programs.
