Safe Haven for Pets

Domestic violence survivors with pets may be hesitant to leave an abusive situation if they are unable to remove their pets from danger as well.

The Safe Haven for Pets program provides:

Safe, anonymous foster care for pets of domestic violence survivors until they can secure safe, permanent housing
Food and any needed veterinary care for pets while in foster care
The opportunity for survivors to visit frequently with their pets

The Safe Haven for Pets program is a partnership between AWAIC and another nonprofit. To protect the safety and confidentiality of our participants, we cannot disclose the name of the other nonprofit. We are also unable to accept donations on behalf of the other organization.
