Bras for a Cause: Supporting Survivors & Raising Breast Cancer Awareness

Join AWAIC on Wednesday, September 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for Bras for a Cause, a community event supporting survivors of domestic violence and their families while raising awareness about breast health as we enter Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Action Month this October.

Are you a woman age 40 or older and due for your annual screening mammogram? Help AWAIC provide essential resources to survivors by donating new bras and underwear, and take an important step for your own health with a free mammogram through Providence Imaging Center’s Mobile Mammography Clinic, available at AWAIC during the event.

Call Providence Imaging Center at (907) 212-3151 to schedule this important 20-minute test between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Please call to pre-register prior to your appointment.

Anyone from the community is welcome to donate new bras or underwear for the women and girls staying in the AWAIC Shelter – No need to get a mammogram to donate! And those dropping off donations are welcome to enjoy hot coffee and snacks while learning about domestic violence prevention and breast cancer early detection.

Together, we can support survivors, promote breast health and early detection, and use the power of community to raise awareness and make a difference.
